About Us

What?

514eats.com is a Montreal restaurant and bar review blog brought to you by two regular guys who like to eat, drink, go out and cook.  We will go anywhere and we will say it like it is.

Why?

We like discovering new places to eat and drink, sometimes following recommendations from traditional print media and blogs.

However, we find that most reviews out there are either too lenghty or not representative of what the typical diner can expect, causing us to lose interest halfway through.

We also feel that most bloggers are afraid of being brutally honest, and seem to praise everything they sink their teeth into.

How?

We thought it would be nice to have a blog that gives you a decent idea of a spot in a succint and structured fashion.

We also thought it would be great to combine the blog with a restaurant directory and tie up the two using unique and searchable "tags".  Our tags will describe anything from how hard it is to find parking to what kind of crowd frequents a spot.

Finally, we will review any establishment, from the tiniest sandwich counter to the ritziest upscale restaurant.  We will be opinionated, funny, even politically-incorrect at times.

Who?

We are not self-described "foodies", nor do we work in the restaurant or hospitality industries.  We simply love eating and drinking, and we thought we would share our findings, with the hopes that somebody out there, foodie or not, finds something useful out of them.
